Why would someone question the intent and purpose of a church today? Ask ten people from ten various religious groups, and you will receive ten different answers. Therefore, there is reason to consider the existence of the church as it pleases God, because so many people are confused and often look for an easy, convenient, comfortable solution, rather than a truthful, reliable, accurate solution…
Most people have learned what they believe about the church from the practices and teachings of the churches they attend or have attended. Some of those church practices originated from someone’s beliefs, ideals, suppositions, or traditions. When you begin to mix the Bible with a tradition and pass it down from one generation to the next, it is possible some will adopt the tradition or modify it. As a result, today people practice a variety of religious activities: infant baptism, instrumental music in worship, set up a daycare to serve the public, accepting homosexual practices, permitting adultery, and speaking in tongues during a worship assembly. The result is, in the public eye, the church becomes a provider of all types of services or protest agency against social problems like abortion, wage discrepancy, or gun control.
Instead of the church being known as a spiritual body of Christ (Eph 1:22,23) and the “fullness of Christ”, it is the fullness of the world!!…
In view of where people’s heart is today regarding the church, "Can we rely on what we have been taught and historically practiced as being Biblical? Are the beliefs and practices of churches what God established them to be in the New Testament?"
Fact/Truth: The church is of biblical origin and can only be defined in the Bible. If people are stating their real/true belief in God and the Bible, then the responsibility of the believer is recognize "what saith the Lord" on the matter of Christ's church. Scripturally determine what is a true biblical church, how it began, when it began, what is its intent, purpose, and function, what is its organization, who is its Head, and who are its leaders and members. We have a sure, truthful way to know -- the Bible way, God's Word…
NOTE THIS: Here is what we face, all of us. It is NOT we cannot know what is correct, but will we hear the correct way and accept the Bible as the absolute authority; Or ignore the Bible way, remain confused and deceived; Or will we study and be diligent to search and rightly divide the word of truth (2 Timothy 2:15)?
