The Beautiful Belief about Marriage

What skill have you learned and acquired today was easy to begin at the start?

Every new endeavor takes time, practice, classes, etc. to be skilled at a task or talent.

To create beauty in marriage the small things, the special things, and the loving things need to be applied every day to move from a “beginner” to a “model” marriage. No one in your marriage will have perfected everything. No one can claim superiority and excellence. To claim to be “fully experienced” in marriage will soon become a barrier hiding any sin or weakness making intimacy an impossibility.

Your marriage has two experienced people in it but are not exempt from ongoing difficulties in creating the beautiful art of our marriage. Your union needs a godly view to obtain its beauty. The painting is within scripture. Its foundation is the image of God taking hours of our time to sustain. Its mirror is it the mysterious sketching of Christ and the church. My marriage’s beauty is in pleasing the One I love the most – Jesus Christ. All the grace and joy my marriage experiences is the brightness of the intimacy and oneness I have in the Lord. He is the light of the world, and the brightness of my eyes upon my wife is due to the glory of Jesus.

The beauty in marriage is a struggle when I hide the light of the Lord. He can shine through the weaknesses. He illuminates hope in the midst of hurt or pain. His mercy is the pattern for my marriage. His grace is the unconditional favor my wife needs from me. The art of marriage is worth the time to learn and grow into an intimate oneness. Trust in the Master Artist to add color, glory, and beauty to the canvas of your marriage.

The promise of “I do” is how your relationship started, and “I will” is the promise from God to be your strength, hope, rock, and refuge. I will have trouble keeping my promise, but the promise of God never fails, neither will His love. No marriage is outside the reach of God’s redemptive resurrection power.  Hold the beauty of God’s transformational power in your marriage. The superiority and excellence of your marriage is not “your mighty hand” but your hand in God’s and hold the other hand of your spouse. Believe in Him now and until death do you part…
